Lights, Camera, Action! The '84-'85 Thesbians and Drama Club members worked diligently on polishing and expanding their acting skills through- out the school year. The drama teacher, Mr. Steve Schwartz, stated that his classes worked on a new theory of acting based on contempory theories of psychology. A fine example of these intense acting techniques was witnessed in the fall mainstage pro- duction of the play, Ordinary People . ln preparation for this play, the students went through extensive and exausting rehears- als for four weeks before the first show, in November. The spring mainstage production was a musical review , while smaller produc- tions, called Showcases, were performed throughout the year as well. The Brown Bag Theater was also introduced to stu- dents during their lunch periods. Yet all of the rehearsing, note-taking, improvasa- tions, and discussions paid off for the ac- tors and actresses of Marina High School. The Thesbians and the Drama Club stu- dents went on a field trip to New York. ln New York, the drama students saw Broad- way plays, visited the United Nations and The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and even took a few acting lessons themselves!
