Editor-in-chief . . . .... Veronica Kelley Volsunga: Read All About It!!!! The Marina High School campus newspaper, Volsunga, is published bi-weekly. All of the editing, writing and photography are done by the students. These young journalists meet every school day in Rm 128 third period. At that time they, type cut, paste, and after a lot of hard work, a beautiful 4-8 page paper is printed. The paper containes both local and national events. Volsunga is a combination of features, sports, and editorials. Also for entertainment, one might find a humerous cartoon, current music information, or upcoming campus fundraisers, dances or other special activities. Along with the aid of Advisor Mrs. Stephana Ryan, the young journalists learn how to enhance their creative writing ability without distorting the facts. Because they all work so incredibly much, the Volsunga staff turns out a high quality newspaper to inform the student body. Volsunga Staff Opinions Editor . . . News Editor .... 122 Valentines Dance Dancing And Romancing! lt was Valentine's 1985 and the night of February 22. Love was in the air at the Costa Mesa Country Club. Couples danced to the music of Time Warp with an appro- priate theme of 'Dancing and Romancing' The theme was definitely the key phrase and people showed it in many different ways. Couples were seen dancing, talking with friends, enjoying each other's com- pany, and drinking Martinelli's Sparkling Cider in champagne glasses. The club was decorated in red, pink, and white. The festivities commenced at 9:00 p.m. and the crowning of the king and queen of hearts occured at 11:00. All of the elected candidates were worthy of the crown, but in the end, the honor was given to Kristin Smith and Jock Petersen. Since Kristin and Jock were very active in school activi' ties, their titles were well earned. As the couples swayed to the spotlight dance, oth- ers watched attentively. For some, the Dancing and Romancing ended at the stroke of midnight, yet for others, the memory of this romantic evening made an impression that would last forever. my I Jock and Kristin dance after being announced King and Queen on Valentines Day.
