Council Leads The Way The year started early for the members of the 1984-85 ASB Viking Council. While most of us were sleeping in, or enjoying the warm sun at the beaches, the dedicated members of student council met at Marina in Room 301 at 7:00 a.m. once a week, throughout the summer. At these meet- ings council and Activities Director John Biere discuss and plan activities for the upcoming school year. These student lead- ers also practiced at Golden West College for their volleyball tournament at Leader- ship Camp. Camp was located on the beau- tiful campus of Ll C Santa Barabara. At this camp our ASB council attended work- shops played volleyball and listened to many prominant speakers. The student leaders came home with lots of school spir- it and many new ideas for the school year. When school finally began, all members attended a first period leadership class in the activities office in room 301. Minutes were read, finance was approved and old and new business was discussed during the formal meetings, which were every Tuesday and Thursday morning. ln the re- maining days Monday, Wednesday and Fri- day, room 301 was constantly filled with sounds and thoughts of students planning different activities. Council planned A Hel- lo Dance, which featured Marina's first Vid- eo D.J., Homecoming night, Homecoming dance, Valentines Dance, campus clean- up, and many other school activities. In The He The halftime show this year, Music On The Move , was enlightened by the band playing Fierro, Softly As l Leave You and Perfida , El lncindo and Birth of the Blues. The Drill Team, Flag, Majorette and Band members per- formed with pride and enthusiastic precision to these numbers, as the cheers of our faithful and rowdy Marina Viking fans added to the excitement of the field. The halftime shows entertained the students and parents alike, filling them with school spirit.
