Pep Rallies Promote Pride Lunchtime pep rallies acknowledged the accomplishments of the football and bas- ketball teams, as well as promoting school pride. During these spirited activities, ei- ther sport was honored and cheered on to another Viking victory. All rallies included some theme and fun activity, whether it be ballon popping, yelling, or pie eating con- tests. Yet we certainly cannot forget the stunning performances of the Tall Flags, Drill Team, and Pepsters. lt was all ele- ments such as these, that when combined formed school spirit and pride, and made Marina's lunchtime rallies a highlight of the football and basketball seasons. Choir: Music To The Ears Mr. Pitt and Mrs. Wolfe also direct the other outstanding vocal group of Marina: the 1984- . 85 choir. The choir is a performing school class so they put on shows mainly at school functions, but their vocal reputation is out- standing. The Marina Concert Choir delighted one and all throughout the whole school year. ' tv- ff ,ww 1 Q.. Bop 'Til Ya Drop After watching an evening of exciting football, many enthusiastic students would crowd into Marina's gymnasium and bop to their favorite tunes. At the Hello dance in September, students were wel- comed to the '84-'85 school year with the addition of video music. This special treat included videos from Bauhaus, Duran Duran, Wham, and many other well-known bands. Subsequent soc-hops, sponsored by the P,T.S.A and A.S.B Council, were held throughout the football season. Marina stue dents soon learned that such gatherings were not only meant for dancing. Soc- hops, according to many, were perfect sit- uations in which to spend time with one's close friends. Marina's soc-hops concluded many memorable nights of fun and excite- ment students will not soon forget! 1 Breakdancing was a new fad popular among soc-hop goers. Sharing a secret between songs. Friends enjoy each others company while dancing to a favorite song. We won!! 'fa' I Soc-hop l l5
