Next, the finalists rode out in vintage T- Birds. They circled the field, and then each girl was introduced to the crowd individually. After being presented, the finalists rode to- gether on the colorfully decorated float. The evening was off to a terrific start and everyone was ready for the game to begin. The Marina Varsity football team immediately showed their skill and talent by scoring and keeping the lead throughout the first and sec- ond quarters. Toward the ending of the sec- ond quarter one could feel the excitement in the air. The girls were then escorted by their fathers down the red carpet to await the announcement of the queen. Everyone's attention was directed toward the West end of the field where Dawn's name was lit up in a burst of light and noise. Queen Dawn accepted the crown amidst the clapping of the crowd and the bulb flashing from the cameras. Dawn then as- cended the steps to the top of the float so that she and her court could take the last ride around the field for the final presentation to the student body, alumni, and parents. The night ended with a victory for the Vikings and a memorable event for all.
