Drill Team Shows E cellence Being a member of the 1984-1985 Valkari Drill Team is a high honor. Thirtyone Drill Team members were chosen in May of 1984. These members,along with the three captains practiced during the summer for three hours every weekday. They also attended a United Spirit Association Drill Team camp at UC Santa Barbara. The team was rewarded a first and superior place trophy. Seven returning members were part of the Olympic Drill Team. They performed at the Opening Cere- monies of the XXlllrd Olympiad held at the Los Angeles Colisseum. Llnder the direction of Jackie Gaeta, the Drill Team performed at pep rallies and showed us all their stunning precision and excellence in the half-time show, Music on the Move. The girls also performed in field competitions with the band and the Color Guard. At these competitions, our Drill Team received first and second places. All members agree that their awards for excellence were well worth the long hours of practice and hard work.
