The 1971-72 Wrestling season saw the Viking wrestlers, coached by joe Corre, finished seventh in the Sunset League. The Vikings were led by Dave Keiter, league championg and Steve Eredia, who Won four Varsity letters in his high school career and had a 21-2 record this season. Dave Rilling, last year's league champion at 168, graduated at mid-year, preventing him from defending his league title. The Vikings were a young team, strong at the lower Weights, but hampered by inexperience at the upper Weights. ln addition to league champion and CIF finalist Keiter C1235, Greg Pickett C1415 and Don Smee C1485 each finished third in the league tournament. A bright future seems likely for the Viking wrestlers, as only three Wrestlers graduate from this year's team. Great things are expected from Bill Hirko, Bob Brazny, Pickett, and Smee, with additional help coming from the remaining Varsity returnees and several bright prospects from the Frosh-Soph and junior Varsity teams.
