Junior Varsity Basketball FRONT CL-Ri: Criag Miller, Pat Newell, Brain jenkins. BACK ROW fL-Rj: Eric Shelby, Craig Hanssen, Dan Worgul, Bob Fanti Phil Graehl, Bill Fick, Bruce Witmer, Rick Rosser, jesse Wilson, jack Stewart. The junior Varsity Basketball team did its usual outstanding job as coach Ron Lindsay taught his team the basics of defense. This was thel key that brought them their third straight winning season. The team seemed to suffer from inconsistency but got it all together just in time to smash Huntington Beach's LV. 26 game Win- ning streak. Ron Swanson lead a stingy defense and Rick Rosser, Bill Fick, and Bob Fanti lead a solid offense with jesse Wilson being a spark plug off the bench.

Va rsityVVrestling Aaaargh! ,.,, ,.,.,..:am.:.ww: f , A A ..,. .,s.s44a Dave Keiter nails his opponet on way to league championship. Bill Thomson dominates his opponent. The 1971-72 Wrestling season saw the Viking wrestlers, coached by joe Corre, finished seventh in the Sunset League. The Vikings were led by Dave Keiter, league championg and Steve Eredia, who Won four Varsity letters in his high school career and had a 21-2 record this season. Dave Rilling, last year's league champion at 168, graduated at mid-year, preventing him from defending his league title. The Vikings were a young team, strong at the lower Weights, but hampered by inexperience at the upper Weights. ln addition to league champion and CIF finalist Keiter C1235, Greg Pickett C1415 and Don Smee C1485 each finished third in the league tournament. A bright future seems likely for the Viking wrestlers, as only three Wrestlers graduate from this year's team. Great things are expected from Bill Hirko, Bob Brazny, Pickett, and Smee, with additional help coming from the remaining Varsity returnees and several bright prospects from the Frosh-Soph and junior Varsity teams.
