A raving preacher and a gospel-singing congregation revived Pride and buried Apathy at Student Council's first assembly. With the early death of Apathy, communication grew and Student Forums were held to better the student-faculty re- lationship. Spirit Week brightened gray January with an under- classman slave auction, two assemblies, inter-class floor de- coration competition, teacher appreciation day, and a basket- ball game. Advised by Mr. Bowen, the group attempted to reach more students and therefore be a truly representative government. A. The 119th Pride Revival brings assurance to MSHS that Apathy is dead and Pride is alive. B. Heading the student grovernment are, Chris Boston, Pam Meagle, Linda Thompson, Marietta Cheng, Doak Markley, Walter McVeigh, and Don Baker. C. Service, Character, Leadership, and Scholarshi Sixty-four members were inducted into National Honor Society in February. This was the largest number ever tapped. An honorary society, NHS inductees are required to have leadership, service, and character as well as scholarship quali- ties. Formal initiation was held April 18 at the end of a probationary period. Members performed such services as the orientation program for sophomores and new students, oper- ating the bookstore, and tutoring other students. The National Honor Society Scholarship Fund provided worthy seniors with aid. The fund was contributed to by the Scholarship Team, another NHS sponsored activity. Advised by lVlrs. Virginia Noe, the group ended the year with the annual picnic. A. The smiling face of Mary Ellen Starling greets a customer of the National Honor Society bookstore. B.
