Once again the Marian Fillies dominated the Schuylkill County League with a perfect 17-0 record. Pine Grove, a traditional rival for the league crown, fell before the championship squad of Coach Elsie Tolan by a 57-43 score. Selfless dedication to their goals, strength- ened by expert coaching, has established the Marian girls as a powerful force in local bas- ketball. PCIAA Championship aspirations were overturned as both the Colts and Fillies fell to Holy Name, Reading. However, the losses did not detract from the season-long achievements of the Marian basketball program. The girls of Coach Elsie Tolan captured their third consecutive league banner while the forces of Coach Bob Fulton lost a heartbreaking thriller to the MMI Preppers for the Anthracite crown. Pennsylvania is still Colt Country! Meeting only token resistance Ron Duser powers' his way toward a goal. Bernie Krupa breaks through Holy Name's defense for an underhand layup. Ray Weicker meets triple trouble in his drive to the basket.
