Steve Valent sends the ball into the air to start the contest with Pius X of Pottstown. Typifying the struggle of a good football game the swarming defense of Pius of Pottstown is met head on by the determined offensive line of Marian giving quarterback Sohosky time to pass. FOOTBALL Varsity competes in rugged season resulting in 2 -8 record The 1972 Marian football team welcomed Mr. Ioseph Bressi as head coach. Under his direction, Operation Hardnose-Phase II was put into full swing as the team pre- pared to field a potent offense and a rugged defense. In spite of the skill and determi- nation shown by the team, they finished with a 2-8 record. Victories for the Colts were over Pleasant Valley and Hamburg which were 8-0 wins. Although the big- gest problem all season was putting points on the board, everybody involved with the team was proud of the squad effort. 1972 VARSITY FOOTBALL RECORD M.H.S. OPP. Zellin, J V FOOTBALL Following a successful scoring drive, the Colt's kicking team runs downfield hoping to pin the opposition deep in their own territory. Tom Schilling struggles to the sidelines looking for open space for a long run. This year's I.V. football team, coached by Mr. Warke, compiled a hard fought 2-4-1 record. The team consisted of extremely dedicated players in- tent on improving their skills for future varsity competition. Instructed in new concepts of the game, the young Colts showed constant improve- ment and ended the final game of the season with an impressive victory.
