Steve Valent sends the ball into the air to start the contest with Pius X of Pottstown. Typifying the struggle of a good football game the swarming defense of Pius of Pottstown is met head on by the determined offensive line of Marian giving quarterback Sohosky time to pass. FOOTBALL Varsity competes in rugged season resulting in 2 -8 record The 1972 Marian football team welcomed Mr. Ioseph Bressi as head coach. Under his direction, Operation Hardnose-Phase II was put into full swing as the team pre- pared to field a potent offense and a rugged defense. In spite of the skill and determi- nation shown by the team, they finished with a 2-8 record. Victories for the Colts were over Pleasant Valley and Hamburg which were 8-0 wins. The only prerequisite for membership in the Men of Marian is extreme dedication to the welfare of Marian High School. In order to counter the financial ills of the school, countless fund raising eiforts formed the bulk of the group's activities. Each drive was refreshingly diversified catering to the pleasant side of life. The Men of Marian picnic has become an annual pastime for hundreds of people, and the Spring Festival lured the gambling instinct in every- one. Whatever their methods, the Men of Marian generously gave of their time and energies to make Marian Number 1. Mr. Baclclick and the President of the Men of Marian Larry Furey provide the fans with Marian iackels. Mr. Douglas and Mr. Soley sell tickets to the exciting world of basketball in Colt Country.
