Perfection in typing is the aim of Steve Valent and Patty Creedon. The errors are few but provide a dramatic scene for the camera. BUSINESS Skills open the door to success The expanding opportunities of the business world can be met only by responsible people who have been well trained. Marian's Business Education students applied them- selves to the task of mastering stenography, bookkeeping and typ- ing. Future oflice personnel bene- fited by using modern machines and learning current techniques. In addition, the Business Resource Center served both the students and the faculty since the senior secretarial class produced count- less jobs for their employers. Qc-' f.L 'n6l' Care of the business machines is an important part of the commercial course. Sister Dolores jean demonstrates the art of cleaning a typing element.

Ji Sister Clare Amata illustrates the complicated theory of electron configuration with the aid of an overhead projector. p Utilizing a parallax viewer, Ioe Dvorak and Elaine Saladyga determine the distance from school to a hill near Tamaqua. I.P.S. students study the properties of matter by weighing a petri dish and its contents. The science program at Marian is dedicated to providing the students with the principles necessary for understanding the rapidly changing world. Freshmen and sophomores learned the fundamental physical properties of matter in the I.P.S. course and explored the secrets of living things in biology. Iunior and senior college-prep students struggled to master the complexities of chemistry and physics. Their courses offered them specialized studies and opportunities for labora- tory experience. Imaginative science programs enabled the students to acquire a deeper respect for God's creation and to prepare for specific academic goals. K Sophomores gather round the model of a frog as they explore the mys- teries of vertebrate anatomy. SCIENCE Experimentation answers man's curiosity

U-TECH Technical knowledge grows through experience Marian students interested in spe- cialized fields of learning, includ- ing Automative Mechanics, Car- pentry, Cosmetology, Electrical Construction, Practical Nursing and Welding, attended morning classes at the Carbon County Vo- cational Technical School. Taught by a qualified statf, the boys and girls grew to realize the importance of both study and work experience in preparing for their careers. The Vo-Tech program, with its stress on individual skills, continued to emphasize the values that Marian places on the development of each student's particular talents. Bob Roos tries to pry apart two sections of pipe so that the pipe can be extended.
