mt we me 5 A romantic theme for Homecoming 1986, Heaven in Your Eyes, reflected the emotions and spirits of Marcos' stu- dents. The week before the homecom- ing game, the funfilled spirit days helped to boost student moral. Twelve candidates, paired into six couples, competed for the titles of homecoming king and queen. Melissa Beamsley, Cathy Copple, Samantha Thomas, Lisa Mancuso, Kristy Edwards, and Lisa Davis were all nominees for homecoming queen. jeff Haugen, Brett Hofmann, Martin Despain, Sean War- ren, Gerard De Los Santos, and jeff San- uik were nominated for the 1986 homecoming king. Stand-ins were nec- essary for a few of the male candidates because of their participation on the football team that night. The participants in the ceremony were not chauffeured around the track in convertibles as they were last year because of an installation of a new track. Instead, they were introduced as they strolled across the turf and stood in their designated places to form an open triangle. The suspense was ended when Lisa Mancuso and Sean Warren were announced the 1986 Queen and King toward the end of the ritual at half-time. The attendance of alumni at the game was tremendous. Included among them were several cheerleaders from last year who made a special ap- pearance at the game and performed along with the current cheerleaders. A special feature to this once-a-year oc- casion was a fireworks display including an illuminated sign that urged Go Pa- dres.
