A oment Glory For HS Inductees Forty-five students were inducted into the Marcos de Niza chapter of Na- tional Honor Society on December 3. Chosen on leadership skills, character, academic achievements, and commu- nity service, it was necessary for each be sponsored by at least members. candidate to three faculty Maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 was the first prerequisite to be con- sidered for N.H.S., and it continues to be a firm requirement. Once inducted, if a member falls below a 3.5 g.p.a., he is given a warning and put on probation for a semester. Building upon its repu- tation for community service, National Honor Society requires that each mem- ber perform two service projects a year. One such project performed by N.H.S. members is an extensive tutor- ing program aimed at assisting Marcos students in areas of academic difficulty. Guitar and Orchestra Seventeen students met each day during third hour and played to their hearts' desires. These students are members of the well-established guitar club, sponsored by Mr. Bob Diaz. For thirteen years, guitar club has been at Marcos promoting the guitar and the variety of music for which it may be used. Officers were President Ted De- quina, Vice President Andy Chacon, Secretary Kristina Huskinson, and Trea- surer joseph Monyer. They raised funds for a tour by candy sales. Also, they played an enthusiastic role in the Christmas Assembly. The twenty-seven member orches- tra, sponsored by jill Osborne, met ev- ery day seventh hour. The group was led by its officers, President Lisa Palmer, Vice President Keith Shillito, Secretary Christine Lyle, Treasurer Torrey Ma- son, and Public Relations Becky Witter.
