S Serves Community The National Honor Society's pur- pose was to recognize outstanding ju- niors and Seniors for their achieve- ments in the areas of service, scholar- ship, character, and leadership. The members strived to serve the campus through various projects and programs like student tutoring, an art festival, college night, and freshman orientation, to name a few. The officers were President Lisa Palmer, Treasurer Kristy Krenzer, Vice President Deanna Morenzoni, and Sec- retary Angela Stahl. They had forty-five additiona original members, and they inducted approximately forty more ju- niors and seniors in December. National Honor Society members raised funds for scholarships to be awarded to two N.H.S. members se- lected by the Marcos faculty. Funds were also used for service projects and hosting a senior breakfast to honor the top ten percent of the graduating class in May. The only fundraiser set up was a tu- toring program for students from Mar- cos and surrounding schools who needed help in their classes. N.H.S. members met once a month before school on Wednesdays. The group's sponsor was Mrs. Cum- mings. The Marcos De Niza chapter of National Honor Society has been an im- portant organization since Marcos opened its doors in 1971.
