V. track season last year, stated Coach Simons. With re- turning l.V. and varsity competitors, the '87 season looked very promising. One major concern was the develop- ment of sprinters and turning unk- nowns into competitors. The city was extremely competitive this season, said Mr. Simons. An added surprise for the girls' track team was going up against our former Coach Houser, who now coaches at McClintock. Many mem- bers returned this year, which made for a successful season. These included jeff Sanuik, Mike Switzer, Samantha Thom- as, Rob Bloehm, Drew Colby, Gioia Pitts, Cory Singleton, Erin Bobo, and Steve Quintero. Overall, the 1987 track season was one of endurance, dedica- tion, and rewards, and for those who will return next year, it will be a season on which to build. ge I

Archery Aims High The archery team was in a rebuilding stage this season due to the loss of its two top archers last year. Bridget Harp- er, Sharon Garcia, jill Simpson and Brooke Farley were the top contenders to replace the 1986 seniors. Angela Stahl and Peggy Bondurant were candidates for top archer this year, stated Coach Uricheck. jill Simp- son and Bridget Harper were the most improved archers during the 1986 sea- asset making the team extremely com- petitive. Camelback High School is the top team in the state. They have won fif- teen state championships in the last seventeen years replied Coach Uri- check regarding whom he expected to be the toughest team they would face. In addition, tough matches were ex- pected to be with Westwood and Agua Fria, who challenged Camelback for the song their improvement was a valuable State Championship in 87.
