HI rn h l h I Shoots for third consecutive state championship! The Girls' Varsity Basketball Team in 1986 had a fantastic season, bringing Marcos de Niza its second State Cham- pionship with a record of twenty-seven wins, two losses. The team faced the same potential in 1987 with the return of several key players. Melissa Beamsly, one of the highest scorers last year, re- turned to help out the team. Coach Matwick also expected to see great things of Nicole Young and Kelly Ray. The Padre spirit was shown though their dedication and hard workin 1986. The season began this year with hopes to remain a victorious team and dupli- cates last year's success. tThe Libro de Oro staff sincerely regrets not being able to fully cover the basketball sea- son, due to the early February dead- line.l Left: Coach Matwick watches his team perform.
