. ., . ::'f:2s:51.E' ' ' Swimmers and Divers spring to victory The divers had an outstanding sea- son. Senior diver, Tom Davis, did ex- tremely well, he made it to state, and, although it was not his best perfor- mance, he placed eighth. Davis said, I thought the season went by too fast. The competition was pretty good, and maybe it will get harder. That would be good, because I do better against someone who is just as good or better than me. Maybe someday Mike and I will have a good future in diving. Mike Kofka, also a senior, performed excep- tionally well. He achieved his goal of breaking the school record by scoring a 253. This score also set a new city meet record and ranked him second in the state. About his achievements Kofka stated, For me, the season seemed to go by a little too quickly, and as a sen- ior, I wish it could've lasted longer. I was happy with the fact that I set my goals and accomplished them. 1 Weed and Phyllis Jones, had a more than satisfactory year. The boys' season ended with a 7-'I record. Keith McNulty, Chip Grimm, Pat Patterson, Robert Forst, Chris Keifer, and divers Tom Davis and Mike Kofka were the most outstanding boy swimmers. Kieth McNulty stated, Adjusting to a new coach is always hard, but I think we did pretty well this year. The girls ended up with a 4-4 record. The most outstanding girl swimmers were Lisa Mancuso, Linda Walters, Ari Stern, Leina Tani, Lindy Gorishek, and diver Dawn West. Lisa Mancuso fin- ished second in the state in the breast- stroke, when asked how she felt about her accomplishments, she stated, It was my best year ever in swimming. My times finally came down. I was happy with my performance at the state meet. It felt great to go for it andget it after all these years of training. . .K 3. -c W xt Top left: Mike Kofka executes an almost perfect reverse dive in pike position. Above: ROW 41: L. Gorishek, K.
