V it Administrators provide unif ing force The administration, the unifying force that holds Marcos de Niza together as a whole, is directed by Dr. Bill Fitzgerald, Principal. His responsibilities are two- fold: first, to make sure school goes in an orderly process whereby students are learning what is being taught, and sec- ondly, to see that instruction is going well in the classroom. Various other du- ties, such as meeting with parents, teach- er evaluations, budget preparations, and attending school events also keep Dr. Fitzgerald always on the go. Mr. Vic Sanchez, Assistant Principal, has many diverse responsibilities. These include class scheduling, registration, and discipline, all of which take a great deal of time and skill. Mr. Sanchez is particularly adept at juggling class sched- ules. Mr. Bill Vanney is in charge of disci- pline and athletics. He works to promote athletic support from the student body. Showing his support for the football team and fulfilling an old promise, Mr. Vanney allowed jason Mullis to throw a pie in his face, after Marcos' defeat against the McClintock Chargers. Ms. Rosalina Baldonado, who joined the Marcos administration midway through last year as Assistant Principal, worked hard throughout her first full year at Marcos. She focused on rebuild- ing the attitude here, working especially hard with the spirit and motivation as- semblies. The entire Marcos de Niza administra- tion is excited about the new buildings on campus. After twelve years, Marcos will finally become a complete school with an auditorium and a second gym, and we are looking forward for these to be completed for the students' use, stat- ed Dr. Fitzgerald. .f 3 L , M7. . ff.. i Q f Y ... Nigga- N I' f K ka e tt.e t,i,e -eei,, , elpful Counselors Aid Students The guidance and counseling staff provided numerous valuable services to students. The staff consisted of Mr. Meyer, Mr. Torres, Ms. Steensen, Mr. Sanchez, Mr. Simeone, Mr. Lira, and the latest addition, Mr. Munos. The counselors provide services to students who are having trouble at home or elsewhere or need counseling for their futures. The counselors also helped students with schedule planning and problems, so they could be adequately prepared for the future. There were four full-time counselors who were regularly assigned to stu- dents, as well as several others who as- sisted students in special areas. The four regular counselors were each as- signed four hundred students, divided alphabetically. The special interest areas included student employment, vocational education and military ca- reers. These various advisors were able to help students meet their unique and individual needs. The Marcos de Niza counselors worked hard to provide students with all necessary services to help meet their specific needs for today and the future. Academics
