Junior Varsity Program Builds Wrestling Techniques The JV wrestling team had a lot of good prospects for the future. The wrestlers had a good season this year with 6-1-l. Alex Villa and Martin Walker went undefeated. Phillip Pena, Richey Quesada and Mark Barry also did an outstanding job, according to Coach Nystrom. I. David Gacilos puts on his sweats trying to make weight. 2. Grant Hickman and Joe Wingate are ready to mall during practice. 3. Wrestlers Give Tough Invitational Performancl After a close season ending in a 5-4 record, two varsity wrestlers placed in the state tournament. Senior Rick Clark C1291 captured a second place and junior Tom Henson fheavy- weightj received a fourth place. Marana finished third in divisionals and qualified eight wrestlers for state. They were Joe Wingate C1081 Dane Smith 0221, Rick Clark, Chuck Phillips 11353, Sammy Soria C14lj, Larry Williams 11701, Daniel Ramsey C1941 and Tom Henson. 1. Tigers Show Aggressive Form Un Cour It was a year of reconstruction for the boys' tennis team under the coaching of Dave Shirk. Coach Shirk came to Marana this year as a pro-college tennis player. He also taught the sport at the Tucson Racquet Club and Randolph Park. The varsity netters had good prospects in Chuck Phillips and Jerry White. Coach Shirk expect- ed the Tigers to finish first or second in the division with their toughest opponents being CDO and Nogales. I. Eli Freeman hits a backhand shot. 2.
