Girls Run Hard In Cross Country The girls' cross country team, coached by Mrs. Antonik and lead by team captain Mon- ique Bernauer went on to win two meets and lose three meets in their second year of com- petition. The girls once again went to divi- sionals, and took fourth place, which was a big enough win to take them to state, but at state they came up without placing. But the girls' cross country team members showed that they were strong and were a team who was capable of going to state two years in a row. Season Games Tough For VafS1ty Volley A few changes took place among the girls varsity volleyball team this past season. For starters, the Tigresses acquired a new coach, Mr. Dave Holaway, who gave them much en- couragement throughout the volleyball season. The season record was 5-1 1, which was a slight improvement over last year's. The varsity Ti- gresses enjoyed wins over Eloy, Flowing Wells and Florence. Of the nine varsity players who participated in volleyball, eight of them will be returning. Judy Berry has left the team, but they will be more experienced next year which will hopefully make the next season successful. Even though ultimate success was not achieved by the girls this year, they were all enthusiastic about the games and played well against some tough schools. l.
