Frantic Yearbook Staff Works Around Deadlines In order to get the yearbook out before the year is over. The yearbook staff had to meet a lot of deadlines through- out the year. The staff also had the job of selling advertise- ments to various stores and shops, to drop the price of the book. But, of a staff of thirteen, there were only four returning people from the previous year. This meant a lot of training for the newcomers. 1. Senior Diane Evans works on a division page design. 2. Cindy Criss and Renee Rea sell ads for the yearbook. 3. Cindy Criss, Glenn Groves, Renee Rea, Diane Evans and Mickey Madore pick out pictures forthe yearbook. 4. Small Newspaper Crew Gets Marana Times Out With a small crew of six people the newspaper staff had to work extra hard to get a newspaper published every two weeks. The staff reported on special events and activities that took place during the year. They also had regular features such as Movie Reviews, Sports Spotlight and Council's Corner. The staff added five members second semester. l. Becky Davis writes a story for the newspaper. 2. People of the newspaper staff work on the feature page. 3. Self-Images Develop Through Photojo Photojournalism students cap- tured the mood and spirit of Mar- ana. Football games, dances and club activities were among the events covered by these students. Assignments were posted in the photojournalism room outlining the events needing coverage, and the students assumed responsibil- ity for them. On the average, each student took 2,500 pictures throughout the year, and about 115 of them were printed. These prints appeared in such publica- tions as yearbook, newspaper and the district newsletter. I. Carl Latimer sets up one of the six enlargers that is used the the photojourna- lism department. 2. Dan Hammond covers the Fine Arts exhibit for one of his assign- ments as a photojournalist. 3. Photojour- nalism students, Mike Richards, Carl Latimer, Don Kobayashi, Dan Hammond, John Schwager, Tammy Hendrickson, Pat Ward and Bryan Pierson, seem confused, but amused at Mr. Sawyer's partial disap- pearance.
