72 Band Hours of hard work result in band excellenc Every year holds new goals, new standards and experiences for every one. This year was no excep- tion, for a group of students known as the Marana High Band. The band this year was inspired by many returning band members. In the year before, the band was really spirited and for a good reasong Mar- ana Marching Band performed in a commercial for the Goodyear Tire Co. They also raised enough money to go to Disneyland for an exciting weekend. Inspired by the Veterans from the past year, the band members worked hard in order to achieve the height of expected excellence. In hopes of returning to California for an even longer stay, the band con- centrated on selling items, house plants, candy and many other moneyraising projects. Besides the trips, the band performed at both the University of Arizona Band Day and Arizona State University Band Day. The band received an overall score of excellent at both of them. The band also performed in their annual Christ- mas and spring concerts. The kids are just great. l've never worked with a more cooperative bunch, said Mr. Grissom, band director. 1. Fun for students becomes entertainmen sqm i A newly formed club offered entertainment to any school group or event. The Entertain-J ers Club gave a chance for stu- dents who felt they had talent to present it to others. Stage Band provided lively music during basketball games. They also played in the Com- mons during the nights of Open House. 1.
