irls' tennis team swings into action Under Coach Kim Holaway, the girls' varsity tennis team had five returning members, none of whom were seniors. The team hoped to have two years of success. The jun- ior varsity had no returning mem- bers, so many started with min- imal skills and hoped to gain ex- perience during the season. Some of the girls attended ten- nis classes this summer in order to improve their games. 1. Varsity tennis team members are Sara Gladden, Dottie James, Becky Davis, Coach Kim Holaway, Monti Green, Shanna Bauer and Kelly Patton. 2. Sara Gladden stretches to reach a low forehand. 3. Increased interest brings depth to tennis The junior varsity and varsity boys' tennis teams both worked on improving fundamental skills of the games, such as front and back- hand volleys. Under Coach Dyer, the Cubs, who were mainly jun- iors, were given strict con- ditioning in order to build winners. Fundamentals were emphasized for the freshmen by Coach Catt. 1.
