Volleyball s season record shows improvement Marana's volleyball team ended this year's season with a 3-16 overall record, which is an improvement over last year. This year's team began the season with 27 members, three of which were seniors. This large turn out created a slight problem. Coach Linda Carpenter commented Marana had many talents, but never really concentrated on them, but with 27 members you just can't get around to them all. This year's varsity had seven members, which included four returning lettermen and three lettering. Also on varsity was a four-year team member and two-year letterman, Donnine Pierson. The team hopes to improve their season next year by at- tending summer volleyball workshops. 1. Kelly Patton practices her setting skills. 2. Donnine Pierson concentrates on her serve, before hitting the ball. 3. The members of the volleyball team are Susan Racine, Carla Clements, Diane Evans, Sue Moody, Es- meralda Francisco, Mrs. Carpenter, Cindy Criss, LeElla Harry, Mellisa Yoe, Paula Lee, Maria Sanchez, Laura Welsh, Pam Whillock, Maureen Polacheck, Lori Edmiston, Pat Schoonover, Roberta Ritter, Kelly Patton, Arlene Ramon, Lena McKnight, Donnine Pierson, Claire Woods, Sandra Perez, Diane Young, Brenda Collier, Gail Best, Judy Berry and Dale Somerville, 4. J.V. players help their team out by showing team spirit at their home court. 5. Claire Woods gets a one-handed hit over her opponent. 6.
