The assignment sheets are posted in room 108 for the Herald StaH',,' read the morning announcements. That day I got my assignment, looked at the deadline and wondered how I was going to get the information for my story and have it written on time. IYhen a teacher had to be interviewed, an appointment was made. Miss Ketterer, our advisor, handed out pass after pass, as the information was gathered for the stories. Then the day came, all too soon, when all the stories had to be turned in. As page editor, I checked first thing in the morning to make sure no one of my statl' was absent. If they were, I had to rind some way to either get the story or have it written again. Many times, stories were put together at the last minute when extra white space was found. The pages were planned, and the advertising placed on the page. The space that was left was divided into stories. Sooner or later during the day, all the stories were turned in, and lVIiss Ketterer took them over to the printer, so proof sheets could be made. Sometimes we were pretty sorry when the proof sheet came back from the printer with half the stories jumbled up and a mass murder on Mr. IVebster's English! ! And oh, how lucky we were when our stories were too short! As the old saying goes, Then the fun begins! I got tired of being asked when the paper was coming out, but was glad when the paper was ready and out on time. Many times the printer had too much work and our paper was delayed a day or so. I must admit, however, there was a paper issued once a month, and after each paper, an ever so tired Herald Staff!
