Again, there are preparations for a con- ference, the Shafroth or Kiwanis contest or a play to be given in assembly. House lights dim, the audience quiets, and the curtain rises on a scene of simple beauty. The admiration of the spectator expresses itself by hushed obs and ahs for indeed the Christmas pageant is an impressive picture. Joseph and Mary in colorful Asiatic costumes stand, living, breathing, statues, While the old, old, Christmas story lives again. The curtains open again upon a group of shepherds dressed in coarse cloth and holding long crooks. The shepherds lie prostrate before the spectre of a beautiful angel Whose spreading Wings bring tidings of the birth of Christ. ' In the next scene the room is filled With the light from a heavenly host. The angels, beautiful and serene, gaze down upon the shepherds, Who look aloft in awe and reverence. As if under the skies of ancient times We see the Three Wise Men look- ing to a strange star which has appeared in the east. A beautiful angel appears and bids them to follow the light of the star.
