Colorado Is a Spam-ish Word .llcmzing fColo-red Rc1l ' LANGUAGE STEPPIN G into a language room, We find an atmosphere steeped in deep mystiication. Each pupil frantically studies the next sentence, hoping that he will not be called upon. The person reciting proceeds hesitantly, praying that he is pronouncing the Words correctly. Cases, conjugations and participles mean more mystery. Grim and deter- mined looks pervade as pupils prepare to dig in and clear up the mystery for all time. Time flies by, and when the strange Words are mentioned again, smiles wreath many faces. After all, they are just little letters that you tack together to make Words. The next problem is to learn the Words. In another room, a bull fight is being fought. The toreador and bull circle slowly and intently round and round. The bull angered, charges fiercely, the toreador side-steps swiftly, swishing a red cloth in front of the bull's distorted face. Again the bull makes a furious charge at the fighter, Who Whirls and prepares to -ding-a-ling-the bell-the Spanish books slam shut and the fate of the poor bull is left until tomorrow.
