J I. Throug out this boo e circle sym olizes this spirit of brotherhood. DICATIO The death of Sid Foster on October 8, 1944 was a shocking blow to those of us who were familiar with his career in Athletics at Occidental College, Manual Arts and throughout Southern California. His long and successful career at Manual Arts dated from 1917 to 1948. From 1912 to 1915 he was a great all around athlete at Occidental, without a doubt, he was the great- ets all around athlete in the history of Occidental College. Mr. Foster became head coach at Manual Arts in 1917. In the same year his football team won City, Southern California, and State Champion- ships also, city champions of 1921 and 1923. His track team also took City Champions. He was known as one of the best authorities on track and field in the Nation. He was active in sports until his death. In 1932, he was in charge of the Olympic Games at the Coliseum. He was instrumental in attending many of the excellent athletic facilities which we now enjoy, he also found the first Toiler Club. He loved Manual. His accomplishments were so outstand- ing that his name shall live with the Toilers as long as the school is in operation. COACH JAMES BLEWITI' MR. GENEVIEVE McDERMOTT Adviser student body PRESIDENT'S FAREWELL Another chapter for the book of life has been com- pleted. This chapter called school-life is the most important. It is the build-up for what is to come later in this all important book. Our teachers and parents have tried to help us through school-life . They have tried to make this first chapter interesting, but filled with items of importance to make the next chapter easier to write. They tried to help, but the pen was in our hands, we are the authors of our own lives. We are now starting a new chapter called adult- hood . What we have learned here will help us to write a better chapter, thank you Manual. Thanks for letting us learn from you. Thanks for letting me serve you as Student Body President. It has really been enioyable working for and with such fine students and friends. I have tried to help you and serve you. I know you helped me in writing my book of life. Brmg But HO OR To Thy came Since the beginning, Manual has been out- standing in sports due to its fine sportsmanship and spirit. When sports first began at Manual all the games were the same, but rugby was played instead of football, the Toilers were as hard to stop then as they are now. This semester our teams worked extra hard to keep bringing honor and fame to Manuals name. VVe hope that in the years to come not only will Manualis outstanding sports ability continue, but also their line sportsmanship and spirit. J. WALKER, QB B. PRUITT, FB H. HUSE, C L. TUDEJA, LT R.
