7. ore ax J ro -f Old M.insfield, high upon the eastern hill . . . Many times we have stood with pride as these fa- miliar bars of our Alma Mater have been played by our M.S.C. Marching Band. Varied factors have brought us together in the little town upon the hill, the Carontawan. Yet there is one thing held in common — all of us are enrolled in an institution of higher learning to prepare for a future profession and to gain new ideas and philoso- phies. Studying until the early hours for the big exam, hurrying to the library to complete the reading due the next day, hurrying across a darkened campus to a club meeting, replenishing energy with subs and Pepsies, applauding the team as they come out on the floor, enjoying Up a Lazy River by the Pep Band, playing one last hand of pinochle before the Hut closes, joining with friends to plan that big Friday night, joining in the frenzied activities preced- ing the holidays, booking the big band for the Cotil- lion . . . All this is Mansfield State College. Naturally, there are complaints. However, at the end of May, when friends ex- claim, See you next September, those not coming back in the fall discover all that college has really meant to them. Registration, new classes, new faces, new friends — all this is over. The realization of how much college will be missed becomes only too clear and with new appreciation, recognition is given to the great part Mansfield State College has played in our lives. Page 6
