It all began on a September day in 1972 when we entered the hallowed halls of M.H.S., apprehensively, yet anxious to begin our journey. Our first obligation as lowly Peagreen Freshmen was to memorize a silly poem and recite it on bended knees. With our advisor, Miss Morina, who volunteered for the job, we began the age old tradition of electing officers - Jeff Farinella as President, Dave Hardy as Vice-President, Sue Hinchey as Secretary, and Paula Gleason as Treasurer. Our first class project was the Toy Drive for the Belchertown School. Many contributed to the drive and it was for a worthwhile cause. Since we respected and admired the seniors, we watched with anticipation on class day, and wondered if our day would ever come. So ended our Freshman year. This year we were honored by the presence of a foreign exchange student from Japan, Chicako Takebe. Her presence was not only a great learning experience for her, but also for a great number of us as well. The summer flew by and another September day arrived. Thus we began our Sophomore year. Our confidence increased for we now held a higher position in Mansfield High. Under the aid of Miss Morina and the leadership of our class officers, Colleen Creeden as President, Theresa Fusco as Vice-President, Sue Hinchey as Secretary, and Diane ''Deej,'' DiGiampietro as Treasurer, we strived to achieve unity as a class. , We really felt a sense of pride when the time came to order our class rings and we impatiently awaited their arrival. That year, we were honored by another exchange student, this time from Bolivia. Katalina Garcia, was another great asset to all of us. Attending Class Day exercises once again, we bade the Seniors goodbye, realizing that our destination was nearer in sight. Amazingly enough we were halfway through our High School career as we entered our ‘Jolly Junior’ year under the able leadership of Chris VanVliet, Theresa Fusco, Sue Hinchey, and Diane Di Giampietro as President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. That year, Mr. Barnes joined Miss Morina in the task of advising our class. Our class rings finally arrived and all were overjoyed. Plans were underway for our most profitable fund raising activity, the candy sale. Everyone did their share selling the candy to make this a success, but Marsha Gorham sold the most by far. Py a 4 ine) Towards the end of the year, Loring Studio was selected by the majority of the class to be the photographers of our yearbook. That year we were fortunate to have two exchange students, Mario Netto and Bernadette Jorge, both from Brazil. They became a part of M.H.S. while they were here. It was now up to us to plan the biggest social event, the Junior Prom. The theme chosen by the class was ''Knights in White Satin.'’ It was a great success and all who attended had an enjoyable evening at the Lantana. Our Junior year then ended and we looked forward to the taking of our Senior Portraits. The sands of time ran out on our last summer vacation. We took a giant leap and entered M.H.S. for one last time as ''Grand Old Seniors,'' a position which should've been highly respected. We were looking forward to the initiation of the Freshmen. The last exchange student to enter Mansfield High during our educational career was Rebeca Mier. She also was a great asset to us all. This year, for the first time in seven years, the Victory Dance on Thanksgiving Day was really for Mansfield. The game was held in Schaeffer Stadium in Foxboro in the pouring rain and the dance was held at M.H.S. Everyone had an enjoyable day. A more astounding accomplishment was the annual musical under the direction of Miss Trombley. A terrific cast presented 'Funny Girl'' on April 1, 2, and 3. Diane DiGiampietro did an Outstanding job as the leading role of Fanny Brice. The cast had as great a time putting on the musical as the audience did receiving it. With these Senior activities behind us, we all felt the excitement of graduation when we were measured for our caps and gowns. The juniors also felt the ecstasy of our graduation as they planned our reception at the Lantana on May 28. At the prom Queen Theresa Fusco and King Tom Smith were crowned. Everyone had an enjoyable evening. And now as we anxiously await to receive our diplomas, we realize the importance of this memorable occasion. May we keep in mind that we entered this educational institution as a group, but now we leave as individuals. With mixed feelings of sorrow and happiness, we leave to go our diverse ways. Class Song ’76 REFLECTIONS OF MY MIND Words and Music by Joseph Taylor The road ahead is long, like the measures of a song, but I'll travel on it to the end. My goals are high, but within my reach and without a sigh I will reach them. I remember the times, I've had in the past, and I think of my destiny. Reflections, Reflections of my mind. These are my reflections, Reflections of my mind. The reflections will last, as a sign of my past, and deep inside I can see them. I'll take my time, from now 'til I die, and let my fate decide my destiny. Reflections, Reflections of my mind. These are my reflections, Reflections of my mind. I know that I must leave, but I'll keep in mind my past, and I'll always think of what I've done. The time has come, for we all must leave, but there'll always be those times to remember. I remember the times I've had in the past, and I'll think of my destiny. Reflections, Reflections of my mind. Its trademark. But there are other criteria. Dimensions like corpo- rate citizenship—a sense of concern for people. For The Foxboro Company, this extra dimension was affirmed recently by the National Association for Mental Health and the President’s Committee on Employment of the Handicapped. Those two agencies chose Foxboro as 1974 Employer of the Year. From among 6,384 nominees. Foxboro was selected for the honor in recognition of its continuing concern for the dignity and rights of the mentally restored. SecasesBaaeiars Corporate records establish Foxboro as a leading worldwide supplier of instruments and systems for process management and control. They tell you that the company was founded in 1908 with a payroll of 58. That it’s now the 15th largest employer in Massachusetts, That it manufacturers more than 1,000 products in plants around the world. That Foxboro recently expanded its marine capabilities by acquiring Trans-Sonics, Inc., of Burlington: now Foxboro Trans-Sonics; Inc. These facts contribute to one dimension of the Foxboro profile. It's the other element—the human dimension— which makes Foxboro something more. FOXBORO a ae a Congratulations to the Class of '76 MANSFIELD TIRE SERVICE Nick and Lucy Anagnos Congratulations. . .
