sStrencftliend =pUy6iccil growth Mr. Simmons, Driver’s Education Instructor, instructs his students how to drive, how to drive defensively, and to have a good altitude towards driving. Mr. Simmons received his B. S. from the College of the Ozarks. He coaches Senior High basketball. A required course for fun as well as profit—that’s Physical Education. Different from other classes, gym means lun through many games and sports. It offers training in physical fitness and also provides opportunity to develop cooperation, through team play, and ability to get along with people. Mr. DeWitt teaches the Junior High boys and girls l»askethal! teams. Mr. Paul Sparks coaches the Senior football team. Mr. DeWitt teaches World History and Civics. He received his IIS from the College of the Ozarks. Mr. Spurks teaches General Science, lie received his BS from the Col- lege of the Ozarks. 7th grade girls are eagerly going through their morning exercises.

olericulture ' mpUciMze«5 «Specific v$kill Instruction in agriculture emphasizes the development of specific knowledge and skill necessary for successful participation in an agricultural occupation. A desirable balance is maintained between the instructional activities of the classroom and farm- mechanic shop and the practical experience provided on the farm and in non-farming agricultural activities of the community. Mr. Terry Williams leaches the Agriculture classes. He received his BSA Mr. Thomas Dewey teaches the Agriculture classes. He received from the University of Ark. his BSA from the University of Arkansas. Mansfield High School is one of the few schools in Ark. to have two Agri teachers. 9th grade Agriculture students are learning the basic fundamen- tals of Agriculture. Mr. Harp is a Teacher's Aid. a new program here in the Agriculture depart- ment. Mr. Harp is explaining a project to Rands Whittaker and Glen Jeffords. 20

vS- and library rovicle Quiet ‘ Place lor %Study here can 1 tuul a quid place lo study? is a question often heard of many Mansfielders, and the answer is invariably the li- brary or study hall. The “big study hall houses about eighty students each period. The studv hall is supervised by Mrs. V irginia Simpson. Students use their study hall period to study, make up tests cheek out books, ami do reference. The Library, another refuge of quiet, is staffed hy Mrs. Betty Blanton. Whether they are searching for a reference book or an ex- citing mvsterv. Mansfielders usually find w hat they need in the library of four thousand books, numerous newspapers and fifty cur- rent magazines. Student librarians not only assist the students in finding books and checking them out hut also keep the volumes in order and maintain a branch library in the main study hall. Mrs. Bctt Blanton is the Librarian. She received her BA from Ouachita University and additional hours from SCA. Rock McGill is searching the wide ariety of hooks that provides reading.
