Sdftowleclcje oj entiai Although extensive stu l in tin field of mathematics is not necessary for all people, a knowledge of basic mathematical skills and techniques, as well as the ability to use mathematical methods is needed by all people. The mathematics program therefore pro- vides courses for all students that w ill enable them to attain a general knowledge of mathematics necessary to make intelligent deci- sions in buying and selling goods and sendees. Mr. Douglas Carmack teaches Economics and Business Math, lie re- ceived his BSE from Southern Stale College. Mr. Carmack is explaining how money should he handled. Mr. lxirn Kennedy teaches Trigonometry, Geometry. Algebra I II. He received his BSE and MSE from SCA. Diane Brown and other Geometry students are constructing diagrams. 14 Mr. I.arr Pugh teaches 7th and 8th grade math. He received his BA from Quachila University. These seventh grade students are listening a Mr. Pugh explains homework problems.

Creative communication involves: first—ideas or concepts, second—the logical organization of these ideas, and third—the clear, sincere written or oral expression of these ideas. English teachers treat English as a device of effective communication, and the general objectives of the English classes and courses are the improvement of communication, better listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking. Mrs. Suette Curry teaches eleventh and twelfth grade English and Speech. She re- ceived her BS from Pikeville College, and her Slasters Degree at Eastern Univer- sity of Kentucky. The seniors are hunting answers for an assignment. Miss Sarita Baker teaches seventh and eighth grade English classes. She received her BA from Quarhita University and has an MEd from the University of Arkansas. The seventh graders are having a class discussion.

By studying tin how and the why of the past students develop a ! elter comprehension of the present and now possibilities of the future. Mr. Mannon gives a puzzling histon quiz to the seventh grade math stu- dents. Mr. Mannon received his BS from the College of the Ozarksand has a MEd from the University of Arkansas. World History students are learning early governments and eiviliza lions. Mr. Cochran received his BS from Ark. Tech and has graduate work from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Herbert Blanton teaches Jr. Hi. History. He received his BA from Stetson University. Mr. Cochran is having a « lass discussion with his A. History class. These Geography students are studying maps and land formations. 15
