0ouM4e(m zAid Student in planning }or future The program of studies for Mansfield High School c onsists of 36 units. Seventeen units are required for graduation. Three types of diplomas are offered to graduate at MHS. They are: Academic:: 4 English, 3 History, 3 Math, 3 Science and 1 I E. Vocational: 4 English, 3 History, 2 Math, 2 Science and 1 PE. Attendance: 4 English, 2 History, 2 Math, and 2 Science. The instructional staff consists of twenty-four professional mem tiers. Several mem hers have Master’s Degrees and others are working toward higher degrees. Mr. Hugh Ivowrimore is the high school counselor. He attended Arkansas Polytechnic College, received his BSE from Henderson Slate University anti his MSE from University of'(Central Ark. He lias additional graduate work from UCA and Arkansas State University. Individual counseling is only one of the many tasks Mr. Lowrimore performs each day. Creative communication involves: first—ideas or concepts, second—the logical organization of these ideas, and third—the clear, sincere written or oral expression of these ideas. English teachers treat English as a device of effective communication, and the general objectives of the English classes and courses are the improvement of communication, better listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking. Mrs. Suette Curry teaches eleventh and twelfth grade English and Speech. She re- ceived her BS from Pikeville College, and her Slasters Degree at Eastern Univer- sity of Kentucky. The seniors are hunting answers for an assignment. Miss Sarita Baker teaches seventh and eighth grade English classes. She received her BA from Quarhita University and has an MEd from the University of Arkansas. The seventh graders are having a class discussion.
