J STERLING PENMAN MARY ANN CONN Mary Ann and Sterling were voted outstanding seniors by the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes, They were selected not only for the things they have done for the school, and work that they have accomplished, but also for their personality and character. Without a doubt these two seniors have deserved this honor, Mary Ann has been a busy person, especially in her senior year. She is secretary of the Booster Club, editor of the annual and the Prospector, D, A,R. Good Citizen, and a member of the Pepperettes, Sterling has been class president for the past two years, Student Council Representative for the Pep Club, and was football captain this year, He has also been on the A Squad basketball team for four years. STERLING PENMAN President When Sterling isn't playing football, basketball, or baseball, he devotes his time to his executive duties as class president, and does an outstanding job in them all, Probably his most famous characteristic is his laugh, easily indentifiable anywhere. Sterling plans to be an athletic coach. JOHN RICHMOND Vice President A top student and an athlete describes John, who leads his class scholastically, plays football, and is on the A basketball team, A nice sense of humor and a tendency toward arguing distinguish him. John will enter an engineer school next year, IAC REED seniors Student Council Representative Iac would be an asset to any team as he proved so often when playing ball for the Mustangs. Basketball and baseball, however, seem to be his favorites, Jac, who is in the upper fourth of his class, plans to go on to college next fall. Senior Sponsors: Mrs. Field and Coach Newson 5 'il Q. wo' ek T I ' x 4 '-A , Huh A - 1 J , V I YT ' . ,J NORMA SUMMER Secretary Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? The answer could well be NORMA, As if that weren't enough, she has been outstanding scholastically and in school affairs, The Student Council has found her valuable, as has the class, She's been cheerleader for three years. If Norma decides upon a career, it will be in the stenographic field. MARY ANN CONN Treasurer The proof of popularity is in the voting and the votes have gone to Mary Ann, The girl with the most mosts, she has earned them all with her ready friendliness, her willingness to do what needed doing, and her versatility, Her major interests at school - she is editor of the Prospector and the annual - will be continued in college next year, ALBIN LAMPHERE Albin is the name, but he answers when called Bones, A gift for comedy has won him parts in many plays, and a love of base- ball has put him on the M, l-LS. nine each year, His plans for the future are indefinite , f ' x, Y J f -L 7 ff'10 'U ,ZX-43 Z ,f AQVA A all lf, 74374 Z! ,Z LYNN HENNINGSEN ff Lynn likes cars - hot rods, tohlgig, and he knows a lot about them, Always ready and able to help when help is needed, he has proved valuable to the class. What he will do when graduation rolls around is still a secret. we D ,WWW h ,. MLVLW 'W y of f s JJ V DA MITCHELL rf' ff Veda is sometimes a quiet girl, though we've noticed she can speak up when she wishes, She plays in the band, and works hard and well on class activities, Her plans for the not-too-distant future include marriage, f 2 s M-fg Antiqucs , EDWIN GARDNER Much of the work vital to the success of any program goes on behind the scenes, and much of the credit for many school and class successes goes to Eddie for his backstage performances. Whenever there's anything to be done, he is there to do it, Too, he has taken an active part in the athletic program. HASKELL THOMSON His music is his life, Much has been added to the school programs and assemblies by Haskell's playing, Next fall Haskell plans to go to college and, of course, major in music. Cs 1.. LYLE HENNINGSEN Lyle is one of the hot-rod fans of M,H. S. One seldom sees this boy walking, In the industrial arts department Lyle has done outstanding work in leather carving, He received a pin for work entered in the Ford Industrial Arts Contest. :W K1--of 43 he f-6' V , if I ACK DAVIS A quick wit, a sharp tongue, and a professed nonconformist- that's Jack. We hear he spends some of his time outside of school riding race horses, C, : PEGGY RAMER ' Peggy's bright spirits and bubbling laughter make everyone want ,' to know her, She came to Manitou in her junior year and soon after was elected to the Student Council, which is proof of her popularity. RICHARD HOLDSWORTH Richard loves fun, fun, and more fun, no matter where or when, He even considers math fun - the harder the problems, the better he likes them. After graduation he plans to find a job, ,fv 3 'fan 1 Q ff 51- AUDREY MAREK 37 '.ll To list all the activities Audrey has helped make a success would J 4 take more space than is available. A friendlier person would be hard to find, Don has decided to wait for the Army's call after high school. BETTY SMISCHNY In many things she is outstanding and studies are no exception as Betty rates in the upper fourth of the class. The school has profited in many ways from Betty's talents. She has always contributed to class and school projects, Betty's art ability has added color and interest to the school programs and class projects, BILL IRWIN If you want Bill to read it, put it in the sports section, On the first-string basketball team for three years, he also played foot- ball and baseball, As sports editor for the Prospector this year, he not only wrote for the school paper, but for the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph, too, His other interests? BILL DAVIS If genius is the capacity for hard work, Bill is well on his way, His special interest is in science, but he does well in everything, and rates in the upper fourth of his class. ROBERT SEIVERT We think that in Robert's back yard there is probably a cemetery for old cars, Certainly no one has had a more amazing assortment of them, When he finishes school he plans to--guess what! -- find a job that includes working with cars. One of the finest honors that come to high school students is to be selected as Girls' State and Boys' State representatives. Last year Bonnie Karlowski and Betty Smischny were chosen to go to Girls' State, while Don Smith, John Richmond, Roger Burkepile, Ed Gardner and Sterling Penman were Boys' Staters, Another annual honor is to be named D, A,R.
