Class Minutes The first regular meeting of the class of '48 was held September, 1944, with Phil Nowak presiding as president and -Alice Kruse pinch-hitting as vice president. joan Dahlgren was elected to fulhll the office of secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Dryer and Mr. Capper had been selected to maintain order when things got out of hand. A motion was made that we have a class get-together. It was seconded and voted upon. The party was held in April in the high school gym. It was then moved by Mr. Bendle that the meeting be adjourned until Septem- ber, 1945. It was seconded by the entire student body. The second regular meeting of the class of '48 was held September, 1945. This year the class had selected LaVerne Bachinski to lead them. He was backed up by Bernard Anderson, vice president, Jem Anderson, secretary, and Carol Battige, treasurer. Mr. Capper and Mrs. Dryer again watched over us and gave us a helping hand when needed. During the meeting many of our members were asked to service on such things as the football team, basketball team, dramatics, and track team. Our boys' basketball team won the school champion- ship. The meeting was adjourned on suggestion of Mr. Bendle. Future busi- ness of the class will be taken up September, 1946. The third regular meeting of the class of '48 was held September, 1946. Ernie Meier called -the meeting to order. Marilyn Sonnenberg was elected to occupy the vice president's office. Jeanne Hanson took minutes and carried on all class correspondence while Orlene Brooks took care of the money. Mrs. Dryer left us and Miss Tautges and Mr. Capper continued the job of supervis- ing us. Again many of our members took an active part in school activities. The biggest event of the meeting was the J-Hop, of which the theme was Fantasy in Fairylandf' A report was read by Lorna Albertson, general chair- man of the affair. A presentation of metals and trophies was made to both our girls' and boys' basketball teams for winning the school championship. On the motion of Mr. Bendle the meeting adjourned in june, 1947. The final meeting of the class of '48 was held September, 1947. LaVerne Bachinski was again elected to lead us. Don Plowman was chosen vice presi- dent and Carol Battige again took over as secretary-treasurer. It was voted that we take our skip-trip May 9, 10, and 11, 1948, and that we take the lake trip. A great many of our members took an active part in sports, dramatics, band and chorus. Don Plowman was chosen as the outstanding football player of the year. A report on the Senior Prom was asked for, but great secrecy is involved with this affair. Our final business came on june 3, 1948, when ninety-five proud seniors walked across the stage of the auditorium and received their diplomas. The meeting was adjourned by Mr. Bendle and true friends said adieu to old M. H. S. 21
