The definition of progress, according to the dictionary, is advance, growth,
development, and improvement, if we use the adjective "progressive," we come
to the definition of "advancing to something better."
We believe that the definitions of both of these words certainly can be
applied to Manhattan Christian School. When we view our present buildings,
and make a comparison to our modest beginning in l907, we have many rea-
sons to reflect an attitude of thankfulness to Almighty God under whose Guiding
Hand we have progressed to the present day. Beginning with a one room
school, with ya pupil enrollment of approximately twenty children, to a modern
twelve room Sfade school and a six classroom high school, plus an all purpose
room which is ample for all that is expected of it's use, is certainly progress.
Our school population has increased during those years to a figure this year
of four-hundred and eight. True, we have had our setbacks along the way, if
we may thus use the term, for we know that nothing happens to us except it
be the Father's will, and this may have occurred because of a failure on our
part to fully place our trust in His leadership. Possibly we grumbled in the ever
mounting cost of Christian education.
Your School Board is grateful however, that you, the parents, and others
fully realized your obligations to God and Covenant youth to provide the
buildings so that the command of God to provide a God-centered education,
could be realized and that from "rubble and ashes" a more practical and
more beautiful school arose in it's stead.
There is another feature in this progress which we covet for ourselves, namely,
that we also advance, grow, develop, and show improvement in the spiritual
sense to honor our Providential God to our eternal welfare.
