This equals a third state championship banner for the girls track team. When they began in late November, the state title did not look promising. With the UNI-I track out of commission the girls had to travel two hours every Saturday to the Dart- mouth track. Their coaches Mr. Ratten and Mr. Shricker made them work ex- tremly hard. From grueling sprint prac- tices in the halls to tiring long distance practices through the west side hills. All the work paid off. At the state meet Sr. Karen Cote placed first in the 1000 m,jen Zeludancz placed second in the 600m and the relay team placed first. Other top finishers were Heidi Follet, Tracy Alsheskie and Kelly Pearson. Definitely West High School is a team to be feared by the other track teams. Heidi F0llef displays the proper fOrm in the high jump. Cindy and Laurie are definitely on the mark. SPORTS!123
