We have chosen to dedicate this yearbook to a man who has touched the lives of many of us at Manchester High in a very special way. He has only been teaching in Manchester for four years, but that has been long enough for us to come to know him and respect him very much. His colleagues know him as kind, congenial, and gifted with an enormous amount of intelligence and quick wit. He is highly respected for his creativity and his diligence. His students know him as an exceptional teacher. He has always strived to know his students on a personal as well as an academic level. Open-minded and compassionate, he is responsive to our individual problems and tal- ents; he encourages the enjoyment of work and pride in work well done. To many students and faculty members he has become a very close friend on whom we can depend for a bit of advice, a good laugh, a reassuring word, or a warm smile. In this past year, in addition to his classes and the amount of hard work and time he has put into this year’s drama productions, he has shouldered the responsibility of chairman of the English Department in Mr. Averill’s absence. The time he has given, the dedication he has shown, and the extent of involvement he has taken on has won him the admiration of all. For these reasons given, and for many more, we the Editors wish to dedicate the 1981 Anchor to our teacher, friend, and favorite Miss Piggy Fan, Mr. John Stuart. 2
