DEAN of the COM Dean Garver Graduating from Manchester in 1933, Dr. Earl S. Garver con- tinued his studies at Harvard University and the University of Chi- cago receiving his Ph.D. Degree from Yale University in 1943. He returned to his Alma Mater, Manchester, as head of the economics department. Dean Garver is known for his support and participation in religious, educational, and economic organiaztions. Equally recog- nized is his sincere interest in youth. Students find it easy to discuss their thoughts and problems with Dr. Garver who has a genuine desire to serve. 24

Spending an evening at home comes so seldom to Presi- dent Helman that a meal with his family becomes quite an occasion. Seated at the table are President and Mrs. Helman with Harriet Ann, nine, affectionately called Bunny, and Patricia Dawn, five. More often President Helman is seen in attendance at auspicious occasions. Banquets are only one example of such activities.

Miss Gertrude Wiebe, Dean of Women, grad- uated from Wheaton College and received her M.R.E. Degree from the Biblical Seminary in New York. She was awarded her M.A. Degree from Columbia University. Miss Wiebe has a warm interest in each Manchester student and takes time from her busy schedule to talk to anyone having a concern. Dean Wiebe makes a willing and enthusiastic member of many campus activities. Dean Wiebe Dean Bollinger A graduate of Manchester College, Dr. R. V. Bollinger continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin where he received his M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees. After serving on the faculty of Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio, he returned to Manchester. Dean Bollinger is one of the first personalities with whom a Manchester neophyte becomes acquainted. A cheerful smile and a keen sense of humor enhance his versatile endeavors.
