For five months, softball was one of the favorite games for the Manatee men. After BOSUN ' FERGUSON issued his POD challenge to the Chiefs of the Goat Locker to take on the youngster ' s of Boy ' s Town (the Wardroom) the game was on. The Wardroom had little trouble after they signed on the Captain to umpire and play right field ... at the same time. It wasn ' t until they went up against the all powerful NON-RATED team that they were beaten. Under the eagle eyes and lightening swift reflexes of Coach CHURCH they made short shift of the brass and then did it again in the night cap of a double header. Meanwhile on the sidelines, the semi-finals of the Olongapo City 12 ounce can curl championships was well underway . . . Come on boy, lay it over . . Reach the plate? I can ' t even SEE the plate!
