TRUELSON Operation, maintenance and repair of the ship ' s armament plus fire control electronic equipment falls into the hands of the MANATEE s Fox Divi- sion-composed of Gunner ' s Mates and Firecontrol Technicians. They man the four 3 50 caliber gun mounts that make up the MANATEE ' s defense. In an addition to instructing the ship ' s company in the operation and handling of small arms, pyrotech- nics and hand grenades. Fox Division is responsible for all ammunition transfer and storage.

SN P, A, BENTSKN Second Division has the same maintenance require- ments in the after half of the ship along with manning rigs 6A, 8, 8A, 7 and 7A. Second division provides the crew for the motor whale boat, and coordinates cargo transfer and highline operation. Both divi- sions began a concerted rust elimination campaign early in the cruise. Although the ope- rating schedule and adverse weather slowed the chipping hammers, the competition be- tween the divisions kept the ship looking sharp.
