Homecoming Week The 1986 Homecoming at Manassas Park High Schoo? was X-citing. Monday’s dress-up day was Jock Day, which was chosen by the Freshmen class. On this beginning day of competition, the Senior Class took first place in having the most people in the class dress-up. Second place was taken by the Juniors, followed by the Sophomores, and Freshmen. Mon¬ day night the classes worked on decorat- ing the halls using comic strips’ characters as the theme. The Seniors used the Peanuts, the Juniors used Garfield, the Sophomores used the Fam¬ ily Circus, and the Freshmen used Bloom i County. The Senior Class won first, i followed by the Junior class, then Sopho¬ mores, and Freshmen. As Tuesday started, students arrived in Togas to support the Sophomores’ dress- up day. The Senior class took ANOTHER first place. The Sophomores were a close second. The Junior class was third, and the Freshmen class was fourth. Juniors selected Beach Day as their dress-up day on Wednesday. The Seniors took FIRST AGAIN, followed by the Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen. The annual Junior-Senior Powder Puff Game was the Junior class fundraiser. The Senior class won an 8-6 victory over the Juniors. The Senior team was coached by Kurt Campbell, J.T. Johnson, Eugene Baltimore, and Donald Alsberry. The Junior team was coached by Billy Dill- man. Thursday, the Seniors had Punk Rock Day as their dress-up day. They also came in first, followed by the Juniors, then Sophomores and Freshmen. The Seniors sold themselves for Slave Day, the class fundraiser. Friday students showed spirit by wear¬ ing Black and Gold. Classes were fired-up for the Pep Rally. Classes were judged on spirit and class support. The Junior class took first, with a close second by the Seniors. Friday was also the day of the parade. Floats made their debut, the band marched and the princesses waved. The princesses were Freshmen Shannon Heflin, Sophomore Sheila Toler, Juniors Tonya Cisler and Kay Richards, and Seniors Karen Church, Ginger Rinker, and Missy Phipps. The King and Queen were Kevin Huber and Missy Phipps. Our football team played a tremendous game against Clarke County. However, we lost with a heartbreaking score of 10-8.
