The many programs were a chal- lenge to the group, but they went ofT successfully and were enjoyed thoroughly not only by the audience but by the members as well. The annual Christmas program was a beautiful one, reaching a climax in Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus." Caroling in the halls the next day was led by two choir groups, after which all joined under the globe to sing traditional carols. The choir again traveled to Grand Central to sing for the commuters, and afterwards attended a broadcast of the Firestone Hour, starring Eleanor Steber. After the broadcast, the members gath- ered about the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Plaza and sang continuously from there until arriving home, hoarse but happy. Another trip was to Columbia to hear the Teachers College give their Christmas pro- gram. All the choirs joined in the last two numbers. Two of the best spring programs were the opening of the Community Institute by the choir, and the per- formance for the New York Schoolmasters' Association at the Brass Rail in New York. Both programs were excellent. The choir exchanged programs with Stam- ford High School. At bofh programs the two choirs sang three numbers jointly. The high point of the year was the annual recital on May ij, which was well attended and was in every way a success. Une of the reasons for this year's success was the diligent efforts of the officers: Vincent Reid, choir- masterg lane Hughes, assistant choirmistress: Arlita Holt, clerk, Gordon Nichol, librarian, and Sally Stow- ell. Sandra Rubin and Maggie Beaver, accompanists. Above all. for the love of music instilled in us, and for just plain fun in singing, the credit goes to Mr. Conklin.
