Our tleans, Mrs. julie Cileason anal Nlr. lohn l..
Sullivan are seemingly two of the most popular people
ahout school. So many stutlents xisit them in their
offices.
Seriously. their work of planning schedules for in,
tliyiclual stuclents is oi' such liar-reaching importanct
that it is virtually impossihle to over-estimate its value.
The College Conference. tletails ol which were
hannlletl largely hy the tleans. was a huge success.
Sixty-seyen colleges anal other institutions of higher
learning sent representatiyes. These institutions were
of yariecl kincls and ranged geographically from the
.Xtlantic to the Mississippi.
It is. of course. impossihle to evaluate accurately tht
significance ol this conference to parents antl stutlents.
XVe can he certain. however. that many hours of trayel
we're sayetl antl many stutlents anal parents matle hap-
pier in the thought that they hatl made progress in the
selection of the right school or college.
MRS. IULIE GLEASUN
This year, the deans planneti another conference.
This innovation at Nlamaroneck High School is calletl
Career Day.
This first yocational conference was heltl on Nlarch

the College Conference except that the persons with
whom stutltnts conferretl were husiness anal proles

Other conferences were heltl tluring the year with
representatixes ot' the armetl seryices.
Mrs. Gleason antl Nlr, Sullixan have reason to he
proutl that they have hatl much to tlo with the tlestinies
ol many ot us. For their interest ancl help we say.
"Thank you."
MR. IOHN SULLIVAN
an
VVe are grateful to our faculty for the time and talent
they have placed at our disposal during the past three
years. At Mamaroneck High School it seems that each
of our teachers is a specialist in several things. First of
all, of course, is the subject he teaches. Beyond that.
however. if one wishes to learn how to bowl. wrestle.
sing. broadcast. or play the zither. some member of our
teaching staff has the required knowledge. skill. and
experience.
.Xfter three years' association with them we have
been particularly impressed with the versatility of talent
available among our teachers. VVe do not mean parlor
games. VVe mean that during a school year a teacher
may promote a dance. direct a play. coach a team. and
sponsor a publication.
'lihe wide diversity ol :activities represented on our
Q.,
roster of clubs is ample testimony of the variety of
activities offered by our versatile teachers. For example.
Riding Club. Fencing Club. Rifle Club. Photography
Club. and Proiection Club seem as diverse as one could
wish. They and many more are available to Mamaro,
neck High students.
All of the dozens of activities and clubs are carried
on. of course. in addition to a lull teaching schedule.
It has been said that a modern high school oflers
opportunity for a better education than one obtained
at the average college of one hundred years ago. VVe
believe that this is true ol' Mamaroneck High School.
No mefe words can adequately express our true feel-
ing of gratitude to those who have guided our destinies
during the three years of our lives just passed.
