DEDICATION We, the Graduating Class of 1976, wish to dedicate our yearbook to Mrs. Valerie Hammond, our Practical Arts teacher and advisor of the cheerleaders, and Mr. Vincent Finch, our Physical Education teacher and coach of the football team, for their trustworthiness, concern, understanding, and undenying devotion to Malcolm X Shabazz High School. They have given us the ability to become more aware of ourselves and struggle for success in the future. Through their guidance, they have instilled in us a sense of unity, love for each other, courage, and confidence. Assisting us in these ways and many more make the class of 1976 proud to honor them in our yearbook the Optimist. Bergman ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT April 7, 1932 —August 2, 1975 Mr. Kenneth Bergman, known as a science teacher to some and Administrative Assistant to others, served this system well for sixteen years. A product of the Newark School System, Mr. Bergman went on to attend Howard University where he received a B.S. degree. He continued his studies at Kean College. Upon completion of post-graduate work in administration supervision, he was selected for the position of Administrative Assistant at Shabazz. The students at Shabazz will always remember Mr. Bergman as someone to be respected and as someone who was concerned about them.
