$ MUSIC Boasting one of the finest music departments in the state of Illinois, Maine West is duly proud of its state championship marching band and state championship show band, its fine orchestra, and numerous excellent choral groups. Music stu- dents gain valuable knowledge and experience by participating in the numerous musical events such as V-Show, school assemblies, and concerts which take place throughout the school year and demand long unglamorous hours of repetitious and tedious practice. Bovenmyer GIRLS PHYSICAL EDUCATION Physical education of high school students is of such concern to the leaders and citizens of our community that they have made it a state law that all students have at least thirty minutes of physical education every day of school. One of the front-rank goals of our late President was increased physical fitness.
