Industrial Arts The primary purpose of the. Industrial Arts Department is to provide to the stu- dents preparation in the applied arts so that they will leave Maine West with prac- tical skills useful in finding a job. In their freshman year, students explore various industrial coursesg and then, in the re- maining three years, they specialize in one particular field. Lan uage The Language Department emphasizes conversational ability in a foreign language and good foimdations in grammar and literature. To encourage the development of these points, Maine West has a foreign language laboratory which includes tape recordings of study material and phono- graph records of books and plays.
