According to enrollment, the most popular courses of the program were Horror and Suspense, Teen-Ager in Literature and Film Study. New Courses added for next year are: Faces of Evil and Read,'Think and Write. ln addition to courses dealing with contem- porary literature, courses on the classics are still available. Changes were seen in the faculty this year. Leona Laouras and Gail Golman joined the departmentg Carolyn Calhoun and Laurie Merel replaced teachers on leave of absence. This year the Russian IV and V classes in- itiated a seminar type of independent study program Wherein students work on an informal basis. Department Chairman Mr. Anderson noted that these language students worked very hard. Two Foreign Language teachers divided their schedules this year. Latin instructior Mr. Curtis taught at Maine West and Eastg and French teacher Mrs. Steinhart divided her schedule between Maine North and East. Back in the department this year was German teacher Mr. Gast, who had been on a sabbatical leave.
